Michelle Williams is an Oscar Nominated actress best known for her role as Jen in Dawson’s Creek and the feature film ‘Brokeback Mountain’.
Michelle Ingrid Williams was born in Kalispell, Montana on September 9th, 1980 and is the eldest of 5 children.
She discovered a love of acting from a very early age, and emancipated herself from her parents in order to further pursue her chosen career.
Michelle’s first roles were in TV shows such as Baywatch, Lassie and Home Improvement. She later moved on to the world of film when she won a role in the 1995 science fiction movie ‘Species’.
She co starred in the hit horror sequel ‘Halloween H20’ before getting her big break in the hit teen TV series ‘Dawson’s Creek’ where she played the role of Jen Lindley for the shows entire six season run. Whilst filming Dawson’s Creek she also found time to star in a variety of popular indie movies such as ‘Dick’ and ‘Prozac Nation’.
In 2005 critics really stood up and took notice of Michelle’s fantastic performance in the hit movie ‘Brokeback Mountain’ for her role she won a Critic's Choice Award and received Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Since then she has starred in many high profile movies with big name stars like ‘The Hottest State’ alongside actor Ethan Hawke. Michelle has apparently signed up to work with influential directors like Woody Allen for future projects.
Michelle Williams is married to her Brokeback Mountain co star Heath Ledger and the couple have a daughter together called Matilda whose famous godparents are actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain) and actress Busy Phillips (Michelle’s co star on Dawson’s creek) The family currently live in New York.
